Ida-Mae I LOVE the mask idea! You should definitely try to undertake that task in your practicum! When I was younger my sister made similar masks in about grade 7 and I could not wait to make them two years later. But for some reason we never got to! If I had an older practicum grade I would totally roll with the mask idea! I think it would be an awesome idea for bringing to the Children's Art show as I imagine there will be lots of pictures and not as many other types of visual art.
ReplyDeleteI made a mask for a play in grade 10 (my first real foray into drama) and I still have it. This would take a while to make, like seriously it could take a good 6 (or more) lessons/work periods to complete. That said, I agree with Milana, it would be a really cool addition to the art show and most students would probably keep their masks forever.
ReplyDeleteWe made masks in grade 7 and showed them off at grad! Like Milana, my older sisters got to make them in grade 7 and I couldn't wait to make mine (Spider-man). The masks is a great idea. It's such a memorable experience.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think i am going to talk to my CT about doing the masks! It might be fine to teach 6 lessons of fine arts? not too sure. Depends on how many fine arts lessons she teaches per week I guess.
ReplyDeleteReally, our "prescribed" time for art is quite limited, which is one of the reasons I look for opportunities for integration. It is easier to undertake longer projects when you have your own classroom - you know that you are the one to make up the time in other subjects if you need to.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say what great activities these are and how well you have tied them to PLOs.
